2018 Annual Review
Posted on 23rd January, 2019 by Applecado
Before we get too far into 2019, we wanted to catch up and review some of the projects we’ve had the pleasure to work in 2018.
If 2018 was the Chinese year of the dog, 2018 was Applecado’s year of the ‘system’. Business management solution, software, portal, web-app — whatever you call it, it was in demand!
Amongst those systems, we planned and built two fantastic and bespoke recruitment portals, one allowing employers to take greater control of their hiring process and choose from carefully screened or pre-selected candidates; the second involved some neat video interviewing functionality.
We worked with an amazing charitable organisation who promote and support global education, developing a clever bit of software for Education Development Trust to enable collaboration, measure and encourage progress.
Our team have recently stepped in for RW Armstrong to build a mini-site to help their business collect and retain up to date information, their construction projects are extremely beautiful and there are many parallels with how we work even though web-development isn’t entirely tangible!
We were very pleased to have designed and developed an eCommerce website and management system for EliseParts, the world-leaders in Lotus aftermarket replacement parts and upgrades. EliseParts knew exactly how their dream eCommerce would fit in with their systems and processes and we were delighted to have built our most complex eCommerce system to date for them. Some final touches are being made at the moment but we can’t wait to launch the new site soon.
2018’s buzzword was privacy, and specifically GDPR when new data processing regulations came into effect in May. One of our first website launches of the year was Recommend and Share – which is a platform designed to put tradespeople in touch with customers, both being able to leave and respond to reviews for each other. Despite both parties being able to search the directory, and invite users to the system, we’re very proud of the privacy-by-design approach we took and the system allows anyone to completely remove themselves and automatically anonymise any reviews left behind.
Applecado also had some time to tackle one or two projects we’ve had in the pipelines for ourselves and we’re very pleased with a bug-tracking system we recently completed (not that you’ll find any of course!). We use it to log and prioritise changes and improvements both clients, and we, intend to make.
