Linksnet Golf came to us with an extremely exciting idea – a completely new social network for golfers to connect and compete with each other virtually. We jumped at the chance to work on this project and we’re so proud of what our team produced – the benefit from having the expertise to build a bespoke social network and sports league in house.
By day, the Linksnet founders run a corporate events management company, and they are keen golfers when they’re not hosting events. They saw a gap for a competitive online golf league and social network, and we were absolutely delighted to be asked to build this one of a kind platform.
The brief was to build a site that allows golfers to sign up and build their profile, add friends, find new opponents, and add scores that go towards a season’s leaderboard.
With Linksnet, players can find friends, or connect with new members in a variety of ways on the platform. Members are given full control over their profile, they can choose to keep their profile private, or quite the opposite – they can post their availability so that other can find them and organise a match together. The site allows players to post temporary availability if they’re travelling and want to organise a quick round while they’re away.
A news feed keeps friends updated – members can add pictures, and comment on each others updates. In addition, a full messaging system enables personal communication too.
Scores are added by players after a club competition, a round with friends, or matchplay between two players. There are few methods we’ve utilised to make sure players aren’t adding scores they didn’t earn – we have also built in a handy verification step for the administration team which will hold their scores from being posted until we can validate them.
Scores count towards a leaderboard for a season, which administrators have full control over as well as managing every element. Ultimately, we’ve given the Linksnet Golf team all the tools they need to be able to run the competitions and the platform by themselves.
Linksnet Golf is a unique online platform allowing golfers to connect, share, and arrange games with each other. The Linksnet team are enthusiastically involved within their seasons, organising networking days, competitions and encouraging the online community.
